      The Pres Says

October is here, as of October 1st we officially have 85 days until Christmas, and you can tell Halloween is just around the corner just walk into any CVS or Walgreens, and see the shelves overflowing with candy.  We here at the PBA would like to congratulate all of the County Commissioners, who were PBA-endorsed, on winning their re-elections.

      Message From The Vice President

When the new administration took over in late January and we all were assigned tasks, I had the honor to look into why several old retirement plaques were sitting in a box. Margarita Vasquez and I started locating and delivering these deserving plaques. Also, I was honored to present a few retirement plaques from this year.

From the Desk of the EVP

The month of October has always been my favorite month. Not only is it my birthday month, but just as change for the better came to the Dade County PBA in January, so will positive change come to the Florida PBA. I want to congratulate our new Florida PBA President, John Kazanjian, and the new Executive Board, for officially taking the reins on October 1st.

      Robert's Review

The month of October is here. Boy, how time flies as you get older. As everyone is aware, we are currently in contract negotiations with the County and we are hopeful that this issue will be resolved soon. We look forward to presenting a contract that we know our members will approve. Trust me, I want a raise too.

      The Dish From Ish

Many of the agencies have adopted this so-called community engagement event as a common practice in policing.  When I first heard of it I laughed for a few minutes then I quickly realized that this was not a joke.  I am a firm believer that community policing is needed and believe the Neighborhood Resource Units serve their function.
