  • St. Michael's Day Celebration
    Updated On: Sep 11, 2015

The Dade County PBA and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church partner together each year to host the Feast Day of St. Michael the Archangel Celebration. The St. Michael’s Day Mass is sometimes called a “Blue Mass” because St. Michael the Archangel, according to the Catholic religion, serves as the patron saint of law enforcement officers. The mass is held in accordance with St. Michael’s Day each September. The celebration mass pays tribute to and honors law enforcement officers of all faiths, who pin on the badge and risk their lives every day to protect our community.

In addition to honoring law enforcement officers for their commitment to duty and to serving the community, the mass provides the opportunity for law enforcement to join together as one family to renew faith, uplift spirits and honor their commitment to each other, their families and the community they serve. The mass is also attended by the surviving family members of officers who were killed in the line of duty. The surviving families find comfort knowing they will always be part of the law enforcement family and they their loved ones’ sacrifice are never forgotten.

While the mass is Catholic, law enforcement officers from all religious backgrounds are welcome and encouraged to attend. It is open to the public and is well attended by all.
